Set language & region

Trustlytics should feel like it was made for you. In your language, with your times, your currency. That is exactly what you set on this page. This is not about your visitors and not about your numbers themselves, only about how everything shows up on your screen.

In short: this page changes the wrapping, not the content. Your collected data stays untouched, no matter what you pick here.

One thing up front, this is all a form

Before we go into detail, one point that saves you trouble. This entire page is a single form with five settings. You change one of them or all of them, but nothing takes effect until you click "Save" at the bottom.

In practice that means: pick a new language, leave the page without saving, and the old one is back. Not a bug. That is how it is built. So set everything first, then one click on "Save", finished.

Language

Here you choose which language Trustlytics speaks to you in. Click into the selection field and look for your language. The abbreviation is next to the name in parentheses, for example, "English (en)".

One point many people underestimate: this choice does not just apply to the app. It carries over to your emails too, so the reports Trustlytics sends you automatically and your summaries. Set it to English here, and the weekly report lands in your inbox in English as well.

Which languages are there? At the moment there are four to pick from: German, English, French, and Italian. But more keep coming. We follow our customers on this. As soon as enough of them work in another language, we add it. Your language is missing? Get in touch with support, and then it goes into our planning.

Region (time zone)

Here you set your time zone. For the US, that is "America/New_York", for example. The European time zones sit at the top of the list, the rest of the world follows below.

Why this is more than a formality? Every time in your reports hangs on this setting. When do your visitors come? When was a conversion triggered? If the time zone is wrong, all those times are shifted, and your prettiest heatmap shows you the wrong moment.

An example: you sit in New York, but your time zone is accidentally set to "Europe/Zurich". Then Trustlytics claims your visitors are most active late in the evening, when in reality they come by in the afternoon. Six hours off, and you are already scheduling your newsletter at the wrong time. So the one quick look to make sure the right thing is in here pays off.

Currency

Here you pick your currency, so CHF, EUR, USD, and so on. The abbreviation is next to it in parentheses here too, and the most common ones (CHF, EUR, USD, GBP) sit at the top.

The symbol you choose shows up everywhere revenue is displayed, above all with the revenue from your conversion goals. So you see "USD 49" instead of "CHF 49".

Only the symbol changes, not the amount. Trustlytics converts nothing. 49 does not suddenly turn into 52 just because you switch from CHF to USD. The number stays, and the sign in front of it changes. Keep that in mind when you give your goals a revenue value.

Time format

Here you decide what times look like. Two options:

Choice What it means
24 hour (14:30) Times from 0 to 23, common in Europe.
12 hour (2:30 PM) Times with AM/PM, common in the USA.

Just take whatever you are used to. Purely a matter of taste, no right or wrong.

First day of the week

Right next to it, you set which day your week starts on. Sounds like a side note, but it changes how weekly reports and calendars are laid out for you. Three options:

  • Monday, common in Europe.
  • Sunday, common in the USA.
  • Saturday, common in Islamic countries.

Small but honest tip: set this the way you think anyway. If your week starts on Monday in your head, pick that here too. Otherwise, your weekly figures slide by a day, and the week over week comparison feels odd without you noticing why right away.

Saving

Once you have set everything, click the blue "Save" button at the very bottom. Only then does Trustlytics apply all your changes at once.

Leave the page without saving, and your changes are gone. The most common stumbling block on this page. One click on "Save" and you are on the safe side.

What is in it for me?

Sounds like small stuff, but it is not. When everything in here is right, you work with numbers you can trust and with an interface that feels familiar:

  • Language makes sure the app and the emails reach you in your language.
  • Time zone keeps the times in your reports correct, so you catch the right moment for your campaigns.
  • Currency shows the matching symbol with your revenue.
  • Time format and the start of the week lay everything out the way you read it anyway.

Bottom line: set it up properly once, one click on "Save", and you never think about it again. Two minutes that pay for themselves many times over.

Good to know

  • These settings only apply to your own display. They change nothing about the collected visitor data.
  • You can change them again at any time. None of it is set in stone.

Common questions

I picked a new language, but nothing changes. Why?
Because the change only takes effect with a click on "Save" at the very bottom. The whole page is a form. Save, and the new language is there right away.

Do I get my reports in the new language too?
Yes. The language choice applies not only to the app but also to the emails Trustlytics sends you. Set it to English, and the report comes in English as well.

I switched the currency, but my revenue stayed the same. Is that a mistake?
No, that is exactly right. Trustlytics only changes the currency symbol, not the amount. So 49 does not turn into different numbers, just a different sign in front of it. No conversion takes place.

The times in my reports are wrong. What do I do?
Almost always it is the time zone. Check whether your correct region is in here, for the US that would be "America/New_York", for example. After saving, all the times are recalculated to match.

Do these settings change my collected data?
No. Everything here is purely about display. Your visitor data stays exactly as it is. You only change how that data is presented to you.

I left the page, and my setting was gone again. Why?
Because it was not saved before leaving. Without a click on "Save", Trustlytics discards the changes. Just set it again and save this time before you go.

Why should I set "Sunday" as the first day of the week?
Because in the US the week starts on Sunday. Your weekly reports and the calendar follow that. Set it the way you think anyway, and then the weekly figures match your gut feeling.
